About Authentic Golf

Steve Eckroat

I have spent the better part of my 53 years in golf, from a successful collegiate playing career to collegiate coaching and player development. I serve as swing and performance coach to my son Austin, who plays on the PGA Tour. Along his journey, I have become a trusted confidant and consultant to many families who are pursuing the same. All paths to success are different, even the definition of success is different from family to family. Whether your path leads you to success in professional golf or not, I believe one thing is certain, you must become the best version of yourself to even have a chance.

I have a pretty simple philosophy and in return like to keep things simple…My collegiate coach used to yell KISS to us all the time…Keep It Simple Stupid!

Golf is a sport and like all other sports, is played best when played instinctively. All great athletes have two things in common…to begin with they are gifted. They also possess a tremendous work ethic, an internal drive to get better by practicing their skills. The important thing about skill building, which we call practice and refer to as the PRACTICE MINDSET, is the TRUST you develop in yourself to execute your intended stroke or shot. INSTINCT is based upon that TRUST…and this leads us back to playing instinctively…we call this the GAME MINDSET. You become the best version of yourself when you leave the PRACTICE MINDSET and enter the GAME MINDSET!
